MOUNTAIN LIFEWORKS balances existing non-profit efforts and government systems with innovative philanthropic strategies and commercial solutions to improve outcomes.  The first step to addressing any challenge is to identify both the root cause or causes and the resulting symptoms. A better understanding of how mental health conditions like anxiety, depression and PTSD are triggered or exacerbated by socio-economic contributors like poverty, housing, education, unemployment, relationship problems and other issues is the key to defeating them.

MOUNTAIN LIFEWORKS programs blend proven expertise and solutions to help address the socio-economic factors that fuel the poverty-depression cycle resulting in unnecessary hardship among our most vulnerable, their caregivers and local professionals trying to help them. The CDC cites over 200 diagnosable mental illnesses. Socio-economic contributors are not mental health conditions, therefore they require different tools and expertise. By balancing proven expertise with a hand-up approach we complement trickle down government and charity models to increase positive outcomes, reduce long-term costs and retain community expertise, while alleviating some demands on charity assistance and government resources.
